UPCOMING EVENTS:

Fall Family Festival - Saturday, October 22, 2022

Join us for the Fall Family Festival, to be held on Saturday, October 22 from 3:00 – 5:00 pm. This event will have several family-friendly activities, including a bounce house/slide, games, food, treat booths and more.  We hope to meet our neighbors and find out how we may best serve the needs in this community.

Collecting items for Seafarer Christmas Boxes - November

Every year we collect items to put together Christmas boxes for seafarers who work on large ships that stop at the Port of Houston during the holidays. Usually they are unable to leave their ship for months at a time. One way to brighten their Christmas season is to provide a box filled with items they could use while on the ship. We will collect items and empty shoe boxes (with lids) and then have an "assembly and wrapping party" on Sunday, November 20.

Please check out THIS LINK to learn more about the Ministry to the Port of Houston and suggested items. We can accept gently used magazines and books, the 2023 calendars and note pads you may be receiving in the mail, etc. Plastic shoe boxes even become another gift for the seafarer.  If you would like to donate items, please contact the church office.

ONGOING MINISTRIES:

Personal Care Kits for Lutheran World Relief

Covenant collects personal care kit items, which are assembled into kits for refugees around the world.  We completed 113 care kits during the season of Lent that are being sent to areas in need of them.

Partnership with MESA-Outreach Food Pantry

Covenant partners with MESA-Outreach Food Panty to provide SOUP to families in our community. MESA Food Pantry serves people from all walks of life by providing basic food needs. Each month they serve over 2000 pounds of food to approximately 100 families in need. They are particularly in need of soup to distribute each month. This is where Covenant can help. Please consider purchasing a few extra cans of soup each month while you are doing your grocery shopping. Soup can be any brand, type or size.

Any donations are appreciated, not only by Covenant, but especially by our community!  Donations can be brought to our location at 2901 Barker Cypress Rd.  Call (281-578-8799) or email the church office to schedule a drop off.

Partnership with Schmalz Elementary

Covenant also partners with Schmalz Elementary in Katy ISD.  We support the teachers and students in various ways and participated in a food distribution event in February 2022 at Schmalz in partnership with the Houston Food Bank.  We hope to do more of these events soon!  Some of our members serve as mentors for students at Schmalz.  If you would like to apply to become a mentor or volunteer in other ways, visit the Katy ISD website.
