Milestones

What is a Milestone?

A faith milestone is a marker along life’s journey that says, “This is something important and God is here, too.” Marking a milestone is a biblically-based spiritual practice in both home and congregation, that help all generations recognize God’s presence in all of life.

Covenant’s Milestones Program includes opportunities for all ages to connect with their faith. Parents are encouraged to use the resources provided to help instill good faith practices at home.

Examples of some of our milestones: Babies will receive a "first Bible." Preschoolers receive a bedtime picture Bible as well as a prayer cube to start them off right. In the fall, backpacks are blessed at the beginning of school and second graders and up are encouraged to attend acolyte training as a service milestone. The Bible Discovery Workshop and First Communion Workshop are offered once a year for second graders and up. Going into Junior High, the kids will receive a new Bible appropriate for Confirmation study. High school kids will be invited to serve wine at Communion as a service opportunity and will often participate in a larger service project/mission trip as schedules allow. Graduations are recognized annually.

Covenant realizes that many of our children have joined us somewhere along this journey. For more information on how to update your child’s milestones to their current age, contact Lorna Blount, our Milestones coordinator, at lorna@blounts.net
